Plant-Based Brunch Party

Jump To Recipe
Creating a healthy plant-based bite-size menu for a party is easier than you think. Ramadan is only a week away at the time of writing this post, and I wanted to put a menu together to inspire you to do the same for a pre-Ramadan brunch or Eid breakfast for friends and family. It’s perfect for anytime of year in fact.
Vegan But first, a few tips for creating a bite-size menu:
  • Take a favorite dish and turn it into a smaller one by dividing into smaller portions like I did with the Feta Salad pictured below.
  • Aim for the size to be eaten in a couple of bites only, the smaller it is, the more your guests can enjoy and sample the other foods available.
  • Keep in mind the temperature the food should be at when choosing the menu. The more room-teprature items you have on the menu the easier time you will have. Remember that hot foods cool down much faster than cold foods warm up.
  • Avoid any food item that would be considered “messy”. Your guests should be able to eat them without it going all over their clothes or fingers.
  • Try to come up with mostly make-ahead items for your menu,  that way you only have a few dishes that need to be done right before your guests arrive.
  • For foods that can’t be hand-held as single bites, get creative with small crockery you already have at home for your food presentation, like Arabic coffee or espresso cups. The simpler the better with 1 color or all glass.
  • Food labels customized for the occasion look amazing! I love using Pic Monkey or Canva for this.
On to the food…
As mentioned earlier, Ramadan was definitely on my mind when creating this menu. So to start off we have Muhalabiya Smoothies inspired by this Vegan Muhalabiya Ice Cream made with banana, dates, honey, cashew milk and coconut milk. Then flavored with cardamom, orange blossom water and mastic. They look so cute served in Arabic coffee cups, making the perfect portion to leave room to enjoy the other dishes, and don’t forget to sprinkle on some pistachios for garnish.
Above we have Zaater Ricotta Stuffed Dates….and they were a hit! The tangy ricotta that tasted like labna when mixed with the zaater with the sweet dates was a lovely combination, drizzled with tahini date molasses and sprinkled with sesame seeds. Oh before I forget, the ricotta was vegan made from almonds and cashews. I got the recipe from this delightful e-book by One Ingredient Chef Andrew Olsen.
Another dish with a sweet and tangy taste, but also a little spicy, is the Spicy Eggplant Crostini from Crumbs….made smaller for the party, and veganized by basically removing the goat cheese. That ricotta we used for the dates would have been lovely on top. This is one of my absolute favorite dishes at Crumbs, and you can certainly order it yourself for your next party. I would advice ordering everything to be delivered separately and you can assembly it yourself.
This is a mini version of my Dairy-Free Fetal Salad that no one will believe is vegan! Try it and let me know what you think. And check out the video of how to make it here.
What’s breakfast or brunch without fatayer right? These are mini versions of the Pistachio Pesto Pizza from our soon to launch all vegan menu called Table11. For more ideas on healthy fatayer and pizza check out Whole-Grain Pizza Doughand Vegan Rye Zucchini Flatbread.
Another one of my favorites with a sweet and savory flavor are these Nut and Seed Crackerstopped with Sweet Basil Pesto. Garnish it with olives as pictured. But even if you don’t plan to have a party, please make this and let me know what you think.
These Acai Granola Cups are the perfect brunch dish. You can also see how to make the granola cups in this video. If you have smaller tart pans go ahead and use them to make even smaller bites.
And finally what’s any menu without chocolate right? These Dark Chocolate Hazelnut Truffles are another taste of vegan deliciousness by Table11. An alternative and easy idea would be to make date or bliss balls.

Please share your ideas in the comments below, and any questions feel free to ask and I will be more than happy to get back to you.
